Generation Pa
How do you learn to be a man without a father figure to guide you? Mich, Jay and Ruwhel are three devoted dads from Rotterdam. Growing up without their fathers, the three men had to figure things out on their own from a very early age.
Now raising their own children they do everything they can to break the generational spiral. Do they manage to be there unconditionally for their offspring and fulfill their roles as protectors of the family? An intimate portrait of masculinity, vulnerability and fatherhood.
Fortuyn: Un Dutch
Fortuyn: Un Dutch tells the story of Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn from a bicultural perspective. Both in archival footage and interviews, we shift the narrative of Fortuyn by taking the viewpoint of people with a bicultural background as our starting point.
How has Fortuyn’s right-wing turn shaped lives in the multicultural society he declared bankrupt? What political and societal events influenced the Islamophobia resurgence he initiated? This series revisits history; our memory depends on who tells the story.
Feis Forever
On New Year’s Eve 2019, 32-year-old Faisal Mssyeh, better known as the rapper Feis, is shot. His death sends shockwaves through the neighborhood and the Dutch hip-hop scene. Feis Forever provides an intimate glimpse into the life of the artist, featuring conversations with friends, home videos, and interviews with Feis himself.
The documentary traces his transformation from a raw street rapper to a mature artist who exposed his inner struggle through poetic lyrics. The film illustrates how Feis’ legacy and inspiration continue to live on, through his music and memories. A story of friendship, self-discovery, and the power of hip-hop, set against the vibrant backdrop of Rotterdam-West.
All You See
What if from one day to the next you’re not seen anymore, but you are being stared at?
The four protagonists in this film have suddenly ended up in a new world full of alienation. They are all ‘new’ in the Netherlands, but soon find out that in the eyes of others, they will forever be seen as newcomers. Even after 35 years.
In Between These Mountains
Joined by his father Tony, filmmaker Olivier Garcia travels to the US to reunite with his half-brother Erik, who is just released from jail.
Sharing the same blood, but resembling little in age, character and upbringing, the triangle of Garcia men try to make the best of what is supposed to be a male bonding experience. Part home and part road movie, In Between These Mountains is a trip through the US and the emotional landscape of men burdened by a history of migration.
The Life of Fathers
As he grew up largely without his father around, photographer Marwan Magroun embarked on a quest to uncover the truths and narratives surrounding fatherhood.
In his transmedia project, The Life of Fathers, Marwan Magroun delves into the lives of fathers who face societal stigmas and biases. This endeavor results in a visual exploration of fatherhood, comprising a documentary, a photography series, and discussions.
